War on terror

 

By the end of the Cold War , some groups arrive to establish believed and ideologies that were based on terror. Read and share the most important information with the group. 

Proxy wars

 

During this semester we have been discussing about some of the major conflicts in the world in the past but also in the present. The term "proxy war" came up and it was briefly explained as it occured in the epoch we are now studying: The Cold War. 

In order to uderstand better this term and the implication it had, we need to check on one hand the "proxy wars" during the cold War, and on the other hand the domino theory, both related to the "cold"conflict between the superpowers.

Tomorrow you will be explaining as experts about the countries that were implicated because of this theory and of this kind of conflict.

Cuban Missile Crisis

 

Let's check what happened in the world during the Cold War. One of the situations faced during this time was the Cuban Missile Crisis. Please watch this video until minute 3:26 and answer the questions given in class, in order to have a general idea of what the situation was.

Then read this statement given by the US President. What would you have done as the US President? And as Fidel? And as the USSR Chairman?

After discussing these questions, read these two letters. They are the last two in response to the actions and problems resulted by the discovering of the missiles in Cuba:

Did your answers to the questions are different now? How did they solved the situation in Cuba? What is yoour opinion of the major confrontation between the Us and the Soviet Union during Cold War?
